Chilean Meteorological Service Presents Findings on September EF1 Tornado
Professionals from the Meteorological Studies and Laboratory and Territorial Management Office of the Chilean Meteorological Service (DMC) presented the main results of their tornado research on 29 September.1
The tornado was classified as an EF1 on the Fujita scale, with estimated wind speeds between 138 and 177 km/h, and followed an approximate 36 km trajectory with intermittent behavior. The study emphasized the need to integrate satellite data, meteorological background and field observations to improve weather surveillance, analysis and forecasting capabilities in Chile.1
