U.S. Defense Secretary creates new autonomous warfare command at Quantico
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the formation of the Autonomous Warfare Command, a four‑star military unit focused on rapid adoption of autonomous weapons, at the Quantico Marine base in Virginia.1
The new command will oversee the development of killer robots and other autonomous systems, while the Pentagon also plans a separate project on future warfare led by Newt Gingrich, Palmer Luckey and Elon Musk; Amnesty International has called for a ban on such weapons and Hegseth accused critical reporters of treason.1
