Ecuador's National Assembly Passes New Civil Aviation Law
The National Assembly of Ecuador approved a new Civil Aviation Law aimed at modernising regulations, facilitating airline entry, generating new routes and frequencies, and moving toward an open‑skies policy.1
The law seeks to remove barriers so new carriers can compete, create additional routes to lower fares, simplify procedures to attract airlines, and reactivate seven airports beyond the existing international hubs in Quito, Guayaquil and Manta; it also gives legal force to drone regulations, allowing coordination with the National Police and Armed Forces and permitting drone confiscation for unregulated activity.1
